Success story of Bernadette Pistorius
Bernadette Pistorius, marketing manager of Mafikeng Mall, hardly ever has a dull day. When she’s not hosting large expos at the mall, she’s planning charity events.
“My goal at work is to get as much positive media attention for the mall as possible,” says Bernadette who’s enviable career in marketing started at Damelin West Rand where she studied Conference, Exhibition & Event management and on completion, studied Entrepreneurship.
“I had no idea what I wanted to do after school,” she recalls, “Damelin West Rand seemed like a good option. It was close to home at the time and their courses are nationally recognised.”
Bernadette was a full time learner and says her time spent at Damelin West Rand was “absolutely fabulous!” and advises all students to take part in as many activities as possible in order to reap the full benefits of life on campus.
“Studying at Damelin taught me how to present myself professionally,” says Bernadette, who believes that education has the ability to lift one’s self-esteem. “Achieving a qualification is something to be proud of and that’s a feeling no one can ever take away from you!”
