IT principles (CompTIA A+)

Start date: 3 May and 4 August 2012

This programme is designed for learners who are interested in the technical side of computers. On successful completion, learners have the opportunity to gain employment as entry-level technicians.
Learners will gain theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in PC hardware and operating systems. Learners will be prepared to write the international CompTIA A+ examinations. The CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for computer support technicians.

Network principles (CompTIA N+)

Start date: 28 August 2012

This technical programme will provide learners with an understanding of the skills and techniques required to support a wide variety of networking architectures. It provides learners with training in network installation, support and troubleshooting skills. Emphasis is placed on competence at both a practical and theoretical level.
On successful completion, learners have the opportunity to gain employment as an entry-level technician or entry-level LAN administrator.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional

Start date: Modules starting throughout 2012

This international curriculum gives the learner the skills to deploy, build, design and optimise operating, network and server technologies for a particular job role.  Learners will gain understanding of the design and technology decisions that are necessary to ensure successful technology implementation projects.

It is the aim of the programme to prepare the learner for the Microsoft external examinations leading to MCITP: Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008.

An Enterprise Administrator is responsible for the overall Windows Server environment and architecture.  Their job involves translating business goals into technology decisions, and designing mid-range to long-term strategies.  Enterprise administrators also make key decisions and recommendations about: network infrastructure; directory services, identity management and authentication; security policies; business continuity; design of IT administrative structure; best practices, standards and service level agreements.
